Common flooring questions,
- Do you offer free estimates?
- Yes. We come to the house, measure, look at what's actually there, and give you a written price. No charge and no obligation.
- Are you licensed and insured in Connecticut?
- Yes — we carry a Connecticut Home Improvement Contractor license and full insurance. Ask to see both; any contractor who hesitates is telling you something.
- What towns do you serve?
- Shelton, Trumbull, Fairfield, Milford, Stratford, Monroe, Derby, Ansonia, Seymour, and Orange, plus the surrounding parts of Fairfield and New Haven County. We take projects further out case by case.
- Do you use subcontractors?
- No. The crew that quotes your job is the crew that does it. That's the main reason we can promise the finish quality we do.
- Do you offer dustless sanding?
- Yes. Our sanders run on a dust containment system that captures the great majority of the dust at the source instead of letting it settle through the house.
- How much does flooring cost?
- Too many variables to quote honestly on a webpage — square footage, condition, material, and prep all move the number. What we can promise is that the written estimate is the price, with no add-ons appearing mid-job.
- How soon can you start after the estimate?
- Usually within a couple of weeks, depending on the season and material lead times. Water damage and other urgent repairs get moved up — call us and say so.
- What brands of materials do you use?
- Bona, DuraSeal, Loba, Minwax, Lenmar, and Permashield, depending on the job and the finish you want. All name-brand, all readily available if you ever need a touch-up years later.
- Can I stay in my home during the work?
- In most cases yes. We seal off the work area and stage room by room where the layout allows. Full-house sanding and finishing is the one job where you'll want to plan around a few days.
- Do you handle commercial work?
- Light commercial, yes — showrooms, small warehouses, and offices, most often epoxy coatings. Larger industrial jobs are worth a phone call to see if we're the right fit.
- Should I refinish or replace my hardwood floors?
- If the boards are sound and there's wood left above the tongue, refinishing costs less and usually looks better. Deep water damage, buckling, or floors already sanded to the nails are the signs it's time to replace.
- Which flooring is best for a basement?
- Waterproof LVP or epoxy, in almost every case. Solid hardwood below grade in Connecticut is a moisture problem waiting to happen, no matter how good the installation is.
